With the winter event upon us its time to take a look at its mechanics, world events and rewards.
Now also updated for the winter of 2025 鉂勶笍
This event features two types of world events one being Frozen Convoys of different tiers and the other one being the two Elite Warships of the event, the Azure Royale and the Azure Harbinger.
There are 3 convoys roaming the seas with each one having a different tier. However they only differ in their difficulty as other aspects like the ship setup and the loot they drop remain the same across the different tiers so they are not described individually below.
| World Event | Description |
|---|---|
| Frostbitten Spirits | A convoy, covered in strange crystals, has left the Red Isle, carrying a trove of spirits. It's as if the crew are desperate for anything to soothe their troubled souls... |
| Cold Convoy | After raiding several settlements, a merchant convoy has set sail from Hovohovo. Though laden with spoils, rumors swirl that it is no ordinary convoy, for it ebars the chill of death. |
| Cross-Continental Frost | A convoy guarded by the Azure Fleet has passed Port Louis. The convoy not only carries spoils from the East Indies, but crystals bearing an eerie chill. |
Each convoy features two ships which carry an Azure Cache and are escorted by several other ships including an elite ship, the Azure Royale.
You first want to destroy the Azure Royale as it will grant loot including a random gift (see Available Gifts) which can be handed in at Scurlock as a gift to receive A Gift In Return.
After that you can quickly destroy the two trading ships carriying the Azure Cache. These can be identified by their cargo attachements on the sides and aft, and also by using the spyglass.
Defeating the ships itself will also reward Azurite Gems and a random gift which can be exchanged in Sainte Anne (see Gifts and Vendors).
Interactive overview in the Codex: Azure Cache
A cache from a merchant ship of the Azure Fleet.
It seems to sap the very warmth from the surrounding air.
Following is the reward table for the Azure Cache:

This encounter represents the boss encounter of this event with the elite warship, the Azure Royale rewarding the Azure Strongbox.
The Azure Fleet has deployed their finest to the frontline.
This fight works like most against elite ships except three things you should focus on:
1. Use fire weapons to remove the shield
This needs to be done first before you can inflict damage with regular (weapons of other damage types). Using weapons like the Fire Bombard III or the
Nashkar should do the job very easily.
2. Focus on the weakpoints
This may sound like an obvious point, but is especially true here as the ship can else soak up quite a lot of damage which is not needed. You can defeat most of the ships health pool by just destroying the weak points so try to focus on them.
When youre loadout is more DPS focussed and you struggle with survival try using the Nashkar here as it grants massive hp's back on hitting a weakpoint. So a win-win.
3. Keep an eye out for the black smoke
At a point in the encounter does the ship covers itself in a cloud of black smoke. During this period it does fire devastating percing shots (4 at a time) from its front or aft weapons port. This salvo will when fully brace in most cases fully deplete your brace strength and costs half of your ship hp's. Meaning a second salvo is most times deadly for DPS builds.
The options here are limited as outrunning those shots is not feasible due to their high range, so having a tank soaking that damage can help. The only way to interrupt this phase is via a Crew Attack.
After defeating the ship you'll get a Luxury Dice, Azurite Gems and the Azure Strongbox.
This new elite warship is the more deadlier version of the Azure Royale, featuring some updated mechanics and multiple phases during the fight.
It's summonable via the event buoy and 10 Azure Flare making it great for farming the new
Harbinger's Strongbox.
Cursed ships emanating a strange cold have appeared, said to be deadlier than ever. Beware the ominous Azure Harbinger.
This encounters features 4 ships, 3 sloops and the boss itself in a frigate, all of them belonging to the Azure Fleet and featuring barriers.
As the fight shared many similarities to the Azure Royale, the same Approach can be used.
Start with clearing the 3 sloops around the harbinger as else they can get annoying very quickly, especially when doing it solo.
Afterwards can the boss be taken down without much trouble, you just need to keep an eye out for his side cannon shots as those can deal quite a lot of damage in one barrage. A very good counter against those kinds of burst damage is the Silver Sentinel armor which mostly negates those bursts when activating it before the shots hit you. Especially as its effect has no cooldown.
A new mechanic in this fight is the so called Armor of Frost in which the Harbinger becomes immune to damage and its figure head (indicated by a red glow) needs to be destroyed in time.
Failing to do so will heal the boss for a part of its health, so try to take it down, else the fight can get long.
This phase will come up around 3 times on average.
Those new buoys, which are spawned by the Harbinger during the fight, come in two forms with different effects.
Iceberg Buoy
The first is the iceberg buoy which applies the Frostbite effect to players around it, heavily slowing them down and increasing their reload time.

Ice Crystal Buoy
The second is the ice crystal buoy which is smaller in size and explodes after a short time dealing damage to ships around.
It radiates out pulses that shortly before exploding turn red, so there is enough time to evade or brace the damage.

Opening 50 Azure Cache's will reward the Azure Tidings seasonal achievement and corresponding badge.

Completing the Azure Harbinger 10 times will reward the Invader seasonal achievement and corresponding badge.

Dealing 1 000 000 damage to weakpoints against the Azure Royale will reward the Bull's Eye seasonal achievement and badge.
Note
The Azure Royale in the convoys won't work for this.
