Undying Maw Guide
The Undying Maw world event introduced with the season Y1S4 - Shadows of the Deep brings the rotten remains of the Mega Lestari back to life requiring pirates to hunt this creature once again.
General
In this rank 14 world event does the player need to hunt down a twisted and rotten version of the Mega Lestari to end its terror once and for all. The Reward for this undertaking is a Mysterious Chest featuring items and cosmetics.
There have been sightings of Lestari in these waters.
But something is off about the beast, as though it has been tainted by Vikram's influence.
The monster will soon arrive in the region.
Lore
Once an mighty Mega Lestari which roamed across the seas, attacking and killing countless sailors and pirates in its way this monster got defeated in the end by a group of brave hunters. It's death marked the groups greatest success and their win was seen as a sign of safer seas for other sailors. However with the appearance of Vikram this turned out false.
First with the rise of an undead, rotten and even more deadly Zamaharibu and now with rumors spreading about an monster looking like the Mega Lestari of days before, it's once again up to the hunters to defeat this twisted monster...
...but who knows if they can defeat it once and for all.
Approach
Sharing a similar fate as the Risen Zamaharibu it features the cursed mechanic with it's movement and attacks being based on the Mega Lestari, so similar tactics can be used for the fight.
Location
The fight takes always place at the same spot on the map, at the edge of the Ring of Fire zone south of The Forgotten Candi outpost at the far east of the game map.
Attacks
In general does the Risen Mega Lestari swim close to the player or below the surface in contrast to the regular Mega Lestari which circles more often around the player. From this "idle" phase it does, depending on if it is surfaced or not, one of the several attacks below.
Damage & Bracing
When I mention damage amounts below they are always seen as braced damage, as if you don't brace its attacks the fight will be quickly over.
1. Charge and Bite
The classic Lestari attack where it charges in the players direction and jumps partially out of the water to bite the ship dealing a small amount of damage.
Afterwards it dives back for several seconds before re-surfacing somewhere in the world event area.
2. Bite from below
This attack is indicated by an area with bubbles under your ship for around 4 to 5 seconds. After that it bites the players ship and dives back below the surface.
The short timeframe it is attacking a players ship it can be damaged and attacked by other players.
3. Tailsplash
This attacks start similar to 1., but shortly before the ship it slows down and comes out of the water hitting the player with its tail.
Afterwards it often continues swimming on the surface.
This attack, besides the time it charges at the player, is a good timeframe to deal damage to its huge exposed body.
Note that it is not possible to kill the Risen Mega Lestari during its attack animation or cancel it. If enough damage has been done it will directly die at the end of this attack animation.
Cursed Mechanic
So far the attacks have been very similar to its non-risen counterpart, but with this variant comes an additional mechanic and status effect. When a player takes damage a Cursed status builds up depending on the damage received by the player. Once this Cursed status is active on any player participating in the world event the fin of the Risen Mega Lestari starts glowing red and becomes a weakpoint.
Active Risen Mega Lestari
This allows to deal great damage to it and should be focussed at all costs, as when it attacks a player in this mode it regenerates its health depending on the amount of damage dealt significantly increasing the time the fight will take.
The regeneration does currently not happen upon an attack, if this is a bug or intended is currently under investigation. If there is an answer this statement will be updated.
Additional things should be kept in mind around the Cursed mechanic:
-
If a cursed player dies its Curse moves on to a non-cursed player participating in the world event.
-
The Curse cannot be cleared with a .
-
Upon expiration of the Cursed status, if not cleared by an attack of the Risen Mega Lestari, it deals great damage to the players ship.
-
When the Risen Mega Lestari is active and does it's 3. attack, it within seconds follows up with another hit to the players ship dealing also great damage.
Bracing for additional 4 seconds after the first hit is highly recommended. The second hit is clearly indicated by an golden shine around the Risen Mega Lestari and its attack animation.
Recommended Loadouts
For this encounter the same builds as for other sea monster encounters can be used. However here it more depends on the group size and own ship.
When doing this encounter solo the is the safe and well working option. Other tankier ships like the or can also work.
Snow:
Barque:
Choosing a pure DPS build, like one with the can turn deadly real quick, as compared to the Risen Zamaharibu the damage received can be higher and more often. Potentially giving not enough time to repair the own ship. Using the can be useful in this case.
Due to its damage dealing nature the also often gets focussed by it, which results in Garudas often getting sunk in the event.
It is worth mentioning that in bigger groups or with more players participating in the world event the focus of the Risen Mega Lestari becomes less of an issue, but still should be kept in mind.
If you want to try an Garuda build:
It is worth mentioning that for auxiliary weapons the and have proven themselves.
After defeating the Risen Mega Lestari you will get several items including , Monstrous Tooth, with a small chance a
Putrefied Lestari Skin and the Putrefied Lestari Eye which can be handed in at the Sea People Huntmaster for the Mysterious Chest.
