Happy Birthday Skull and Bones馃帀
With the anniversary event upon us it is time to celebrate the first year of the game by taking a look at the mechanics, lore and rewards of the event.
The event features an new enemy faction, the Scavengers which transport recovered cargo from the Exeter, which players might remember from the tutorial, in several convoys. Along that is nearly every boss encounter, like the Plague King or Chorus of Havoc world event active again offering Silver Lions for defeating them.
The Exeter, a large and heavily armed smuggling ship commanded by Captain Rassler, got sunk in an ambush by the British Trading Alliance defeating both it and its escorts resulting in the valuable cargo being lost to the sea.

Some sailors survived the attack and marooned on an atoll, rumored to be near the Mother of Shipwrecks outpost, with some making it to the pirate hideout Sainte-Anne, founded by John Scurlock.
The player being one of those brave souls.
Now, with several months passed since that eventful day, a new faction started attacking settlements under Scurlocks protection with some of them even carrying scavenged loot from the sunken Exeter. Scurlock, which barely recovered from his loss, is keen on getting his once lost cargo back and pays pirates a good tribute to help him with that.
Besides the hunt for the lost cargo, gather pirates from all around the Red Isle to celebrate another year of Sainte Anne's persistence, besides the rising tension on the seas with the rise of the Kingpins and the search for Freemans Lost Treasure.
Back when the game launched, the tutorial was different with the player stranding near the wreck of the Exeter and being tasked to repair his dhow to make it to Sainte-Anne. This tutorial featured a dedicated map with several outpost, quests and more. Please bring the map back at some point Ubisoft.

Lower tier convoy (image by MostlyVP).
There are 3 convoys roaming the seas with each one having a different tier. While they are very similar they differ in their difficulty and the amount of rewards.
| World Event | Rank | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Paying Dues | 7 | A band of greedy pirates has been spotted in the Indian Ocean. They are said to be carrying a valuable haul that they stole from Scurlock |
| Scurlock's Precious | 10 | The convoy that robbed Scurlock has arrived. Take down the thieves! |
| Thick as Thieves | 13 | Some rats from Sainte-Anne have stolen from Scurlock and plundered settlements nearby, having made off with a sizeable haul. Word is that the greedy scum are returning to the area, looking for targets. |
These convoys can additionally drop epic Compagnie Treasure Chests or legendary Compagnie Treasure Chests.

Each convoy features two ships which carry an Recovered Exeter Chest and are escorted by several other ships including an named elite ship.
You first want to destroy the named elite ship as it will grant additional rewards including Rum Fruitcake and
Silver Lions which can be handed in at the Founding Chest in Sainte-Anne.
After that you can quickly destroy the two trading ships by using explosive weapons, like Fire Bombard III or
The Warhammer, to clear the barrier. These carry the Recovered Exeter Chest and can be identified by their cargo attachements on the sides and aft, and also by using the spyglass.
When defeating selected ships you get, depending on the difficulty, additional Silver Lions ranging from 25-60 for an trading ship and 20 for the elite warship.
